WORLD MARKET LEADER INNOVATION DAY 2020 WITH ULM COOLING SPECIALISTS

WORLD MARKET LEADER INNOVATION DAY 2020 WITH ULM COOLING SPECIALISTS

pervormance international GmbH, a globally successful specialist for cooling textiles, presented itself as the “global market leader of tomorrow” at Innovation Day 2020 in Erlangen. Selected among only five companies from Germany, pervormance’s managing directors Gabriele Renner and Sabine Stein were able to illustrate how COOLINE SX3 technology can be used for cooling in various areas in a climate-neutral manner and without energy consumption in order to solve the heat consequences of climate change in an environmentally friendly way.

Every year, the summit meeting of world market leaders is one of the highlights of German business life. This platform for leading SMEs, which was co-initiated by Walter Döring, former Minister of Economic Affairs of Baden-Württemberg and owner of the Academy of German World Market Leaders, had invited decision-makers from SMEs to the “World Market Leader Innovation Day” in the business location of Erlangen for the first time together with WirtschaftsWoche and Handelsblatt.

The innovative managing directors from Ulm had prominent listeners at their presentation, such as Dr. Roland Busch, Chairman of the Board and designated CEO of Siemens AG, Uwe Wagner, Member of the Board at Schaeffler or Prof. Dr. Peter Wasserscheid from the FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg. “The invitation to the Innovation Day has once again shown that we are on the right track with our globally sought-after cooling textiles, innovative technology and with sustainable production,” said Gabriele Renner, Managing Director of pervormance international, pleased about the invitation to the Innovation Day.

PERVORMANCE INTERNATIONAL – PARTNER IN CLIMATE PROTECTION

PERVORMANCE INTERNATIONAL – PARTNER IN CLIMATE PROTECTION

As extremely high temperatures become more common as a result of climate change, the dangers to health increase significantly. In 2019 alone, heat was responsible for 356,000 deaths globally (see study in the Lancet journal). Heat also means up to 12 percent loss of productivity in businesses.
That’s why pervormance has revolutionized air-conditioning technology: with cooling functional textiles that cool the body using patented 3D technology with smart fibers – with a cooling capacity of up to 660 watts effectively and climate-neutral.

Climate neutral means: All CO2 emissions of our company and the entire product range are recorded and offset via a recognized climate protection project.

You can find out more about this in our new brochure “pervormance -Partner in climate protection”.

CLIMATE – INITIATIVE: “ULM PLANTS TREES”.

CLIMATE – INITIATIVE: “ULM PLANTS TREES”.

Don’t talk, act – in fact, plant trees: That is the motto of the children of Plant-for-the-Planet. The Ulm-based company pervormance international with Managing Director Gabi Renner has therefore kept the promise made in Monaco on March 9, 2018 by Prince Albert II and Felix Finkbeiner and realized the donation of 5500 trees in Ulm with partners and presented the climate initiative “Ulm plants trees” during the opening of the Ulm Climate Protection Day by Lord Mayor Gunther Czisch.

Partners of the first hour are besides pervormance international also the Ulm companies Trivis and Volksbank Ulm-Biberach, unw (Ulmer Initiativkreis nachhaltige Wirtschaftsentwicklung e.V.), which took up and organized the initiative, and of course the city of Ulm with the local agenda Ulm 21. all together have already pledged 5500 trees. In addition, the Ulm basketball players from ratiopharm ulm support the climate initiative.

It all started in 2009 with a school presentation by Felix Finkbeiner, who was 9 years old at the time – today Plant-for-the-Planet is a global children’s and youth organization that has already planted 15 billion trees around the world with 67,000 children to stop the climate crisis.

On May 22, 2018, Felix became the youngest recipient of the Order of Merit to date to receive the Federal Cross of Merit from German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Environmental politicians such as Professor Klaus Töpfer and many scientists such as Professor Franz Josef Radermacher from Ulm but also celebrities such as Harrison Ford or Gisele Bündchen, Til Schweiger or Peter Maffay support the organization. On March 9, the kick-off event of the “Trillion Tree Campaign” was held in Monaco, which aims to plant 1000 billion trees worldwide in order to meet the 2° limit after all. According to climate experts, this number is at least necessary to significantly slow down or stop the overheating of the earth, so that our children still live in a world as we love it. “The best time to plant a tree was thirty years ago. The second best is now,” says Professor Klaus Töpfer.

The average CO2 emission of a German is 12 tons a year. To offset that, 24 additional trees are needed. This is because each tree that Plant-for-the-Planet plants, for example in Yucatán, Mexico, binds 500 kg of CO2 over the course of its lifetime.

The homepage of www.ulm-pflanzt-bäume.de provides further information and shows how everyone can easily participate or even become climate neutral. All trees of the climate initiative are added up in the common Ulm tree counter, which then flows back into the Trillion Tree tree counter of Plant-for-the-Planet. Everyone who participates is thus part of the worldwide campaign to realize the largest reforestation project in human history.

RECEPTION AT PRINCE ALBERT IN MONACO: PERVOMANCE PROMOTES WORLDWIDE TREE PLANTING CAMPAIGN

RECEPTION AT PRINCE ALBERT IN MONACO: PERVOMANCE PROMOTES WORLDWIDE TREE PLANTING CAMPAIGN

Gabriele Renner and Sabine Stein were received in Monaco by Prince Albert and “Plant for the Planet” founder Felix Finkbeiner. The Ulm-based entrepreneurs, whose E.COOLINE functional cooling textiles are in demand worldwide by companies such as Daimler and Thyssen Krupp for occupational health and safety, in the health sector and by top international athletes, support the environmental organization Plant-for-the-Planet, whose patron is Prince Albert II. The event was also attended by Professor Franz Josef Radermacher from Ulm, representing the Club of Rome, “Der Bergdoktor” actor Hans Sigl and entrepreneurs Alfred Ritter of Ritter Sport and Michael Durach of Develey, as well as representatives of environmental organizations such as the WWF.

“We have already been the world’s first climate-neutral textile company since 2013, and in Monaco we presented our contribution of 246,920 kilograms of CO2 per year converted into trees for the Trillion Trees campaign of the Plant-for-the-Planet organization to Prince Albert of Monaco, the organization’s patron,” Gabriele Renner reports from the reception in the Principality. So far, the compensation from the Ulm-based company has gone to a forest conservation project in Papua New Guinea. “We don’t just want to protect people against heat stress, we also want to sustainably secure the future of our children and preserve the environment to prevent further heat problems caused by global warming,” explains Sabine Stein. For this reason, the cooling functional textiles are also produced exclusively in Germany and Europe. “We can thus always control how our products are manufactured. It does cost a little more. But it is worth it to us.”

The company also joined the United Nations Global Compact and the Women’s Empowerment program in 2013 to strengthen women’s rights around the world, and the two female entrepreneurs were appointed to the “Senate of Business” back in 2011. “Here we are committed to responsible business practices, sustainability and the Senate’s World Forest Climate Initiative,” emphasizes Gabriele Renner, whose functional clothing works like an “air conditioner to put on”, cooling the body up to 12°C while saving at least 90% CO2 compared to air conditioning. This helps, for example, to protect people with multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease or cardiovascular diseases, but also firefighters or construction workers, as well as athletes, from heat problems. More than 100,000 textiles with the high-tech functional cooling system have already been sold worldwide. “This is a completely new market that we are developing here. Until now, there was no alternative to energy-intensive air conditioning systems, and outdoors – compared to our products – they don’t even work,” Sabine Stein elaborates. In 2011, this was also worth the award of the innovation prize “Land of Ideas” to the Federal President, which was then presented to the entrepreneurs by Minister President Winfried Kretschmann in Stuttgart Castle. In the meantime, cooling vests for dogs and cooling blankets for horses are also in development. “Other exciting projects in the health sector are about to be launched,” announces Gabriele Renner.
